Eastern Orthodox Religious Award Program

The Boy Scouts are pleased to announce the re-implementation of the Eastern Orthodox Religious Award Program at St. Nicholas. Mr. Gerasimos Antonatos with the assistance of Rev. Father Paul Palesty will be leading the religious award program. Mr. Antonatos has graciously accepted the role of religious coordinator for the Boy Scouts.
The following dates have been tentatively been set for religious award review and lessons:
BSA (Alpha Omega):
  • Friday, November 1
  • Friday, November 15

Webelos (Chi-Rho):
  • Friday, November 1 (regular meeting)
  • Thursday, December 5 before Vespers (6pm-7pm)
  • Friday, January 3* (regular meeting)

Cub Scouts (St. George):

  • Friday, November 15 (regular meeting)
  • Thursday, December 5 before Vespers (6pm-7pm)
  • Friday, January 3* (regular meeting)

Sunday February 10 – Pancake Breakfast – Religious Awards Presentation

To participate in the Eastern Orthodox Religious Award Program you must be baptized in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
The following are the age groups for each respective medal category:
Alpha Omega – a registered Boy Scout, Girl Scout, Explorer, Trail Life USA, American Heritage Girls or Camp Fire member. A student must be in the sixth through twelfth grade.
Chi Rho – Webelos 1 or Webelos 2 Cub Scout, Girl Scout Junior, or in a Camp Fire program Trail Life USA, American Heritage Girls may earn the Chi-Rho emblem. The recipientmust be in the fourth or fifth grade.
St. George – a registered Tiger Cub, Cub Scout of the Wolf Rank or Bear Rank in the Boy Scouts of America, or Brownies in the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.,Trail Life USA, American Heritage Girls. The recipient must be in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade.
Please feel free to forward to any Scouts of the Eastern Orthodox faith who are Scouts, but not in Troop or Pack 268.

Cost of the religious medals is free for Cub Scout and Boy Scouts of Troop 268. All others participating in the EOCS Religious Program, the cost is $35 which covers the cost of medals and processing fees.
