Scouts and Parents,

The Scout Leaders of Troop 268 hope this email finds you safe and well, and all had a wonderful summer with your loved ones.

As we look forward to another exciting Scout year, the Leaders of Boy Scout Troop 268 are putting together a fun-packed schedule for 2023-2024, with just as many outdoor camping trips and activities as last year.

The Boy Scout Leaders had a meeting last week to discuss the new Troop schedule, Boy Scout Registration, Troop Meetings, and other activities for the upcoming year. As always, the safety of the Boys and the Leaders are of paramount concern in how we plan the upcoming meetings and activities. The following are some of the highlights and decisions from the meeting:

1. The Troop will be charging a fee of $125 per Scout.
2. Our parent organization, BSA, has raised fees significantly again this year but the Troop is keeping the increase to a minimum.
3. Registration Forms will be emailed directly to existing registered Boy Scout families/Scouts. Please review the information on your form for accuracy and make any updates. Bring a final copy to the registration with your payment. We will be accepting the forms and deposits on the following days: See below
4. The first Troop meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 22nd at St. Nicholas’ school cafeteria. The Troop will be distributing Advancements, Awards, and Merit Badges earned from TMR, or through the summer and Elections. 
5. The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are accepting new members so please help us recruit new Scouts into the program. If you know someone who is interested in joining the Cub Scouts or the Boy Scout Troop, please have them contact the Pack/Troop for the forms or send them the link to our Web Page for details. http://www.flushingtroop268.com. You can always bring them along to one of the registration dates.
6. The Troop’s feedback from last year was that the Scouts enjoyed the multiple outdoor activities; hiking, orienteering, fishing, camping, etc.. This year we are expanding the amount of camping, hiking, biking, nature, and orienteering events over the course of the year as part of our further extended outdoor activity program.
7. This year’s TMR Camping Trip was such a great success that we had another large group participate at Camp Aquehonga (the previous year was the largest). As many parents know, the Boys never stop talking about their camping adventures, especially TMR.
8. Next year’s TMR Summer Camp will be from Sunday, July 7th to Saturday, July 13th, 2024, mark your calendars!

2023-2024 Registration for Boy Scout Troop 268 will be on the following dates:

• Friday, September 8th – 7:30 PM and 8:15 PM St. Nicholas Cafeteria. 
• Friday, September 15th – 7:30 PM and 8:15 PM St. Nicholas Cafeteria.
• Saturday, September 16th – 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Church Parking Lot (most likely on Northern Blvd Parking Lot) 

 

2023-2024 Boy Scout Registration Fee is $125.
